Introduction

My name is Laura, I am 24 years of age and I began my journey at Southampton Solent University in September 2014 studying BA Hons Make-Up and Hair Design. I am now approaching my second year at the University which I am extremely excited about.

Before starting University I was a level 3 trained Beauty Therapist where I was working in a salon for 5 years. I gained so much experience in this time as a Beauty Therapist and thoroughly enjoyed what I did. However, I have always had a great interest in Make-Up and was always keen to learn more about this area of work. I also thought there will be a lot more potential for myself if I decided to take this route on board. So without wasting any more time I decided to just go for it and apply for the course and I am so thankful I did as I am now going into my second year and a little closer to achieving my long lived dream!

In my reflective log I will be focusing on my high and low points of my first year at Southampton Solent University. I feel this will help me a lot throughout my time left at University as I can take on board what went well and what didn't go so well so I am able to succeed to the highest standard possible.
